Leisure Centre

The brief was to re design the Solent Sports Complex

The objective for this project was to develop an undertanding for commercial construction and enhance detailing skills. This unit ran alongside the Office Development project where I learnt to use Revit, this allowed me to practice and improve my Revit skills.

Section 1

The brief for this project was to design a new sports/leisure centre for the University campus. The building would be used for teaching the sports curriculum and for public use. The brief included an accommodation schedule specifying the sizes of the main gym and sports halls. The idea for this project was to have a light filled reception with a central atrium carried through to the 5th floor. The main gyms for teaching and public use were enclosed in a circular doughnut shape, with the two required sports halls angled on the site to ensure Sport England regulations where achieved. Some key areas to overcome during this project were the sloped nature of the site and the close proximity to other campus buildings.

Detail I

This project allowed me to develop my design skills and explore various features of Revit to produce floorplans, elevations and renders.

The second part of this project was to extract key details from the sections produced and assemble a technical drawing pack.
